One of the oldest companion breeds,
dog which MAY have been the Pug
occurring around 600 BC! The first
Pugs appeared in Europe during the
Renaissance, and were most popular
in Holland where William of Orange's
dogs were accredited with saving his
life in 1572. They have remained
popular as pets in the western world
ever since.
other pets, they tend to be attached to
their whole family, rather than one
specific individual. Their clownish
personalities are very entertaining.
Pugs come in three color, fawn, black
pounds and are very sturdy.
The Pugs have a dense, almost plush
coat that sheds profusely once or twice
a year, but requires no grooming on
the part of the owner.
Pugs are not barkers, but do make a
other noises. Their short noses make
heat a great challenge. Pugs must be
indoor dogs and really that is where
they want to be, on your lap or by your
feet!
