The Westie-more formally known as the West Highland
White Terrier- is a large dog in a small package. Like all
devoted to their owners.
Westies are energetic, enthusiastic hunters, bred to
chase vermin into their burrows and dens and kill them.
They love to dig, romp, and play and love a good run.
Westies enjoy all sorts of activities with their owners.
Westies only come in one color -white- although they
sometimes have tan or sandy shading on their back
and above the tail. They have a harsh outer coat that
needs regular grooming in order to keep it in shape.
They are ranked "low-dander" by the American Medical
Association (#7) and considered to be good for
people with allergies.
Westies are 10-12" tall and weigh up to 25lbs. They are
VERY sturdy for their size. They are long-lived dogs,
with the average life span being upwards of 14 years.
